Document Scanner Software

Document or image scanning devices that work with personal computers have been around in one form or another since mid to late 1980 s.

As the old-timers may recollect, we used to have hand-held scanners back in those days. They used to come with the manufacturers’ proprietary card (circuit) too. You had had to fix the card in an ISA slot of your PC’s motherboard and then connect the scanner to a socket found on the back pane of this card.

Next, install the drivers and other software from the accompanying floppies (remember how many of those used to come in the bundle!) and you were in business.

I remember there used to be various makes and models, offering different capabilities such as gray scale or colour and various resolutions ranging from 150 dpi to 600 – 800 dpi.
